RSS and XML Feed and Blogging Basics
What in the world are RSS and XML ??? Is this something that you can benefit from? The answer to the latter question is a resounding "yes!" You owe it to yourself to learn about this hot new tool for marketing any product or service online. You'd better learn about this before your competition does.
More and more surfers and internet business owners are discovering the value of RSS, which stands for "really simple syndication" and/or "rich site summary". It's just a very simple way to deliver brief news headlines and snippets which are contained in files that use the XML (Extensible Markup Language) format. The news items then link to a larger story, or to a specific website.
Website Owners are discovering the power of RSS feeds as a way to advertise, alert web site visitors to new products, and alert interested parties to recent newsletter issues, among other things. Site owners can quickly learn how to implement RSS.
Smart Web Surfers have discovered that instead of surfing hundreds of sites for the latest developments, they can simply subscribe to a few RSS feeds and be kept up to date. They can check the latest news and weather, or be alerted to new and interesting developments in their areas of interest using either a browser-based service or by downloading a simple piece of software that makes monitoring and reading RSS feeds a desktop application.
Blogs (short for "web logs") are another technology that is sweeping the internet marketing world. Search engines love blogs, and many webmasters report significant increases in traffic and newsletter subscribers almost immediately after starting a blog. Want to know more?
