Product Review : Auto Web Law Pro

As far as I know, Auto Web Law Pro is the only product of its kind, so thus far there is really nothing to compare it to. That said, I found it an indispensable and reassuring product for anyone interested in doing business on the web.

Within the past year, there have apparently been a number of high-profile enforcement actions by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission -- a US Government regulatory agency) against sites that failed to post the proper disclosures, or made unrealistic product claims.

Regardless of whether Big Brother is watching, I also like the peace of mind of knowing that I'm protected in the event somebody doesn't like the content of an ebook or piece of software he or she buys through one of my links.

While it seems to me ludicrous that one person should be able to sue another because following the instructions in a book didn't result in mega-success, it apparently has happened a few times. A product like Auto Web Law can't stop somebody from filing a lawsuit, but it appears to spell out the terms and conditions of purchase such that the odds of a successful lawsuit are greatly reduced.

Auto Web Law Pro is designed to keep you out of trouble, giving you easy-to-use boilerplate for the most commonly used disclaimers and forms for internet business. The author says he is an attorney with several years of experience in internet marketing, so hopefully he knows whereof he speaks.

Besides the disclaimers and terms of use forms, Auto Web Law Pro also gives you practical advice and forms for such things as Copyright and Trademark protection, and things like simple contracts to use for Affiliate Programs and entering into Joint Ventures.

In theory, I guess I could have downloaded some disclaimer pages from various sites and modified them to fit my site, but frankly, I wouldn't have much confidence in that. How would I know that the documents I was copying (and probably illegally, at that!) were generated by someone who actually knew what he was doing?

Auto Web Law Pro solved all of that for me, and gave me the peace of mind of knowing that I had done my utmost to keep my site legally compliant. Personally, I consider that money well-spent.
